OWEN KLINE

Owen Kline is a New York-based independent filmmaker, actor and cartoonist. His debut feature FUNNY PAGES (2022) is a coming-of-age dark comedy about a teenage cartoonist dropping out of high school and drowning in a world of reprobates and oddballs in Trenton, NJ after the death of his art teacher. Produced by the Safdie brothers, the film premiered in the Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Funny Pages was ranked among the Best Films of 2022 by The New York Times, BFI Sight and Sound, and awarded as one of the Top 10 Independent Films of 2022 by the National Board of Review.

His comedic short film Fowl Play (2013), concerns a group of low-rent criminals fooled into buying a hen for a cockfight in Flushing, Queens. Kline co-wrote and directed the short Jazzy for Joe (2014), a comedy starring legendary New York broadcaster and talk show pioneer Joe Franklin as himself, raising an abandoned baby found on his doorstep.

As an actor, Kline appeared recently in A24's dark comedy A Different Man (2024) as well as playing himself on Apple TV's The Studio (2025). He is also recognized for co-starring as the foul-mouthed pre-teen Frank Berkman of Noah Baumbach's The Squid and the Whale (2005).
